Dear Truc,

A blog of Trúc, an ordinary girl trying to figure life out in her 20s

Who is Truc?

Trúc is my Vietnamese real name, given by my parents with the hope that I would grow up embodying the quality of the plant trúc (bamboo) - resilient, strong, and elegant. Yet, over the course of my life, that name is rarely used.

My family all call me by my home nickname. My friends, teachers, and colleagues call me by my English nickname, Alice, when I started going to an international school and studying abroad in the U.S. Naturally, the name Truc became reserved for legal documents and forgotten over time.

This blog, Dear Truc, is a letter to my inner self, the one that even I sometimes forget about. It’s also a space for me to share with the world things that I rarely speak aloud. You will find the version of me that loves reading, sharing, writing, and doing random art - not the perfect version, but one that is me.

Dear Truc and all of you,

Thank you for being here.

Learning Design Project

This slide deck is an assignment for a graduate course, in which students present the history of a technology tool or product. I’ve chosen to present on Videotelephony - the technology that has been developed since early 1920s and significantly played a role in recent years due to the pandemic. Videotelephony is now existing in many people’s daily life - from personal communication with their loved ones to professional meetings.

I intentionally designed this slide deck to be as of a real Zoom’s call to highlight the product’s interface and engages the audience to the presentation. Click into each panel to learn about the history and implications of Videotelephony.
